First Stop: Taray Viewpoint
Our first stop is the Taray viewpoint, perched at 2,900 meters (9,514 feet) above sea level. From here, you’ll be treated to a panoramic view of the Sacred Valley, with its lush fields, winding rivers, and towering mountains stretching out before you. It’s the perfect spot to snap some photos and take in the sheer scale of this breathtaking region.
Next: Pisac Ruins and Market
We then head to Pisac, located at 2,972 meters (9,751 feet). Here, you’ll explore the impressive Pisac ruins, a sprawling archaeological site featuring intricate Inca terraces, temples, and ceremonial structures. As you walk along the ancient stone pathways, you’ll marvel at the ingenuity of Inca engineering and the stunning views of the surrounding valley. Lunch in Urubamba
From Pisac, we continue to Urubamba, known as the corn capital of the Sacred Valley. At 2,871 meters (9,419 feet), this fertile town is surrounded by fields of maize and offers a delicious buffet lunch featuring local dishes. Think hearty stews, roasted meats, fresh vegetables, and, of course, corn in all its forms. It’s a feast that will leave you energized for the rest of the day.
Afternoon: Ollantaytambo Fortress
After lunch, we make our way to Ollantaytambo, situated at 2,792 meters (9,160 feet). This charming town is home to one of the most impressive Inca fortresses in the region. As you climb the massive stone terraces, you’ll feel like an Inca warrior defending the valley. The precision of the stonework and the sheer scale of the fortress are awe-inspiring. You’ll also have time to wander through the town’s cobblestone streets, which have remained largely unchanged since Inca times.
Final Stop: Chinchero
Our last stop is Chinchero, located at 3,772 meters (12,375 feet). This picturesque village is known for its Inca ruins, colonial church built on Inca foundations, and vibrant textile market. You’ll explore the archaeological site, visit the church adorned with beautiful frescoes, and watch local weavers demonstrate their craft. Return to Cusco
By 6:30 PM, we’ll arrive back in Cusco, dropping you off at your hotel.
