Hey, adventurers! This isn’t just a tour—it’s a wild ride through jungles, mountains, and history. Think biking down crazy slopes, ziplining over valleys, and hiking secret Inca trails. And yeah, we’ll end at Machu Picchu, that iconic wonder you’ve seen in photos. Trust me, it’s even better in person.

Highlights

  • Bike down 55km (34 miles) from snowy mountains to jungle.
  • Zipline over rivers and valleys.
  • Hike secret Inca trails, including Llactapata—a site even most locals don’t know.
  • Soak in Cocalmayo hot springs after a sweaty hike.
  • Two chances to explore Machu Picchu, plus optional climbs up Huayna Picchu.

Trip Details

  • Experience: Mix of biking, rafting, ziplining, and trekking to Machu Picchu.
  • Days: 5 days, 4 nights (2 nights in basic local lodges, 2 nights in Aguas Calientes hotels—book your own, prices vary).
  • Language: Guides speak English/Spanish (other languages if you ask ahead).
  • Start/End: Cusco, Peru.
  • Group Size: Small crews only—no big crowds.
  • Fitness Level: Tough but doable. Expect steep trails, long hikes (2–9 hours daily), and altitude (up to 4,350m/14,270ft).

Itinerary

DAY 1:

BIKE & RAFT: Cusco to Santa MarĂa

We grab you at 5:30 AM from your hotel. After breakfast in the Sacred Valley, we drive to Abra Malaga Pass (4,350m/14,270ft). Gear up! You’ll bike 55km downhill for 3.5 hours—passing icy peaks, then jungle, with stops to fix bikes or snap pics. Lunch in Santa María (1,200m/3,940ft), a tiny jungle town. Optional rafting on the Vilcanota River (April–December only; Class III–V rapids—you must swim well!). Sleep in a basic family-run lodge.

Meals: Lunch, Dinner
Difficulty: Moderate (cold to hot weather whiplash!).

Breakfast, then hike 12km (7.5 miles) through coffee farms and wild orchids. First 2 hours: steep uphill. Meet a local family—they’ll show you how they farm coca and cocoa. Then, walk a hidden Inca trail used to connect Machu Picchu to Vilcabamba. Lunch in Quellomayo, swinging in hammocks. After, hike 2 hours to Cocalmayo hot springs—natural pools surrounded by cliffs. Unwind here before a short ride to Santa Teresa. Sleep in a basic hostel.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Difficulty: Hard (9 hours total, muddy trails).

Breakfast, then zipline over the Urubamba Valley (2 hours—scream your head off!). Next, hike 18km (11 miles): 3 hours uphill to Llactapata Pass (2,736m/8,974ft). Catch your first glimpse of Machu Picchu from a rare angle! Explore the Llactapata ruins (fun fact: rediscovered in 2003!). Descend to Hydroelectric Village. Walk 3 hours along train tracks to Aguas Calientes (or take the train—extra $35). Celebrate with dinner and a hotel bed (your pick—budget or fancy).

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Difficulty: Moderate (steep climbs, but worth the views).

Up at 5 AM! Bus to Machu Picchu for sunrise. Guided tour (2 hours): Temple of the Sun, Intihuatana stone, etc. Free time to explore or hike Huayna Picchu (book 3 months ahead! $35 extra). Afternoon train to Ollantaytambo, then van to Cusco.

Meals: Breakfast
Difficulty: Easy (but emotional—you’re at a Wonder of the World!).

If you booked Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain, today’s your climb. The trail is narrow and steep (45 minutes up)—not for scaredy-cats! After, wander Machu Picchu again or head back early. Train to Ollantaytambo, then van to Cusco. Trip ends around 8 PM.

Meals: Breakfast
Difficulty: Moderate (stairs, lots of ’em).
